Mirza, April 5: With the Assembly elections approaching, Rekibuddin Ahmed, the Congress candidate for the Chamaria constituency, has ramped up his campaign efforts. A significant public meeting took place at the Goroimari town club on Friday, drawing an impressive crowd of over 20,000 attendees.

During the event, Sachin Pilot, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, urged voters in the Chamaria constituency to support Rekibuddin Ahmed. He criticized the current BJP government for its corruption, divisive politics, rising prices, and the mistreatment of minorities.

Pilot called on the citizens of Assam to reject the BJP-led administration and assist the Congress alliance in establishing the next government in the state.

He also cautioned voters against supporting AIUDF and AGP, claiming that these parties are attempting to split minority votes to undermine the Congress candidate.

According to Pilot, Congress has consistently provided essential services such as education rights, information access, food security, and labor rights to all communities, while the BJP has neglected the Constitution and the rule of law.

He emphasized that the Congress party is dedicated to upholding the Constitution of India and the nation's laws.

Dr. Syed Naser Hussain, AICC General Secretary and MP from Karnataka, expressed confidence that Rekibuddin Ahmed would secure victory in the Chamaria constituency by over 100,000 votes, despite the opposition from AGP, BJP, and AIUDF.

Dr. Hussain condemned the actions of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma against the minority community, alleging that Sarma supports corrupt practices in the state.

He appealed to voters to give Congress a chance to eliminate corruption and the syndicate system from Assam.

Alka Lamba, President of the All India Women’s Congress Committee, criticized the BJP for its failure to protect women, citing a rise in violence and crimes against women during its governance.

Lamba promised that a Congress-led government would deliver justice to renowned singer Zubeen Garg within 100 days and provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to women and Rs 1,250 monthly to the elderly if elected.

She accused the BJP-led state government of being one of the most corrupt in India, alleging that vast tracts of rural land are being allocated to companies owned by Adani and Ambani.

Lamba claimed that the BJP's double-engine government is acting against minorities, Dalits, and Adivasis, transferring their lands to large corporations.

She urged voters to support Rekibuddin Ahmed and help the Congress alliance form the government in Assam.

Nuri Khan, General Secretary of AICC Mahila Congress, sought the support of Chamaria voters for Rekibuddin Ahmed, encouraging them to elect him with a substantial margin.

Rekibuddin Ahmed, the Congress candidate, reflected on his accomplishments as an MLA over the past 15 years and promised to bring more development projects to Chamaria if re-elected.

The meeting also featured notable Congress leaders, including Rumi Bargohain, General Secretary of the Assam Mahila Congress Committee, and National Observer Rekha Chouhan.
