Controversial Video of Kerala Congress Leader Sparks Political Outrage
Political Controversy Erupts in Kerala
A contentious video featuring a Kerala Congress leader has gone viral, igniting political tensions in the state. In the footage, the leader advises party workers to exploit women as tools in political rivalries. Following his derogatory remarks, the political climate in Kerala has intensified. Reports indicate that a rally was held in Vazathop in support of UDF candidate Roy K. Paulos, where CP Mathew, the president of the Idukki District Congress Committee (DCC), made the controversial statements.
In the video, he suggests that party members should involve women during conflicts and even tear their clothes to file complaints, thereby ensnaring political opponents.
Allegedly, he encouraged the inclusion of women from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in disputes to ensure serious charges under the SC-ST Act could be filed. He stated that in confrontational situations, women could tear their garments and lodge complaints, which would strengthen cases against political adversaries.

According to reports from a news media outlet, CP Mathew mentioned a female leader, stating, 'Under her leadership, the LDF's plex boards were crushed. The woman leader was instructed that if LDF members approached, she should tear her blouse, as her tribal identity would influence the department's response.'
Meanwhile, opposition parties are accusing Congress of misusing the law. The CPI(M) has claimed that this is a calculated strategy to sway the elections and trap opponents.
