Akhilesh Yadav Critiques Central Government's Ethanol Fuel Policy

Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, has voiced strong opposition to the central government's ethanol-blended fuel policy, claiming it leads to increased vehicle breakdowns and financial strain on the public. He argues that the policy promotes a partnership between the government and profit-driven entities, resulting in lower vehicle mileage and higher maintenance costs. Yadav also raises concerns about the impact on older vehicles and the exploitation of insurance claims. His remarks challenge the government's motives, questioning why it prioritizes the interests of a few over the general populace.

Criticism of Ethanol Fuel Policy

Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has sharply criticized the central government's ethanol-blended fuel policy. He labeled ethanol as a new guise for profiteering, alleging that it represents a collusion between the government, ethanol producers, and oil companies that promotes adulteration at the governmental level.

Concerns Over Pollution and Fuel Efficiency

In a statement released by the party headquarters, Yadav pointed out that the government frequently claims that using ethanol will reduce pollution and lessen dependence on crude oil imports, thereby lowering import bills. However, he argued that the government fails to clarify that this fuel is causing a consistent decline in vehicle mileage. He asserted that ethanol is leading to quicker deterioration of vehicles and significant difficulties in starting them.

Economic Burden on the Public

Yadav further stated that due to reduced mileage, the public is compelled to refuel their vehicles more frequently, increasing their financial burden. Additionally, he noted that vehicles running on ethanol often break down unexpectedly, leading to higher maintenance and repair costs.

Impact on Vehicle Longevity and Resale Value

According to the former Chief Minister, this policy is also affecting the overall lifespan of vehicles and causing a decline in their resale value. He mentioned that incidents of rusting and other technical failures in vehicle parts have risen due to ethanol.

Concerns for Older Vehicles and Insurance Issues

Yadav emphasized that older vehicles are not designed to meet the technical requirements of ethanol-blended fuel. He made serious allegations that insurance companies are exploiting this situation by finding excuses to deny claims based on ethanol-related issues when vehicles break down. He challenged the government, questioning why it is exploiting the general public for the benefit of a few profiteers.
