Allegations of Drug Trafficking by Pakistani Cricket Teams
R V S Mani, a former Under Secretary at the Union Home Ministry, has made shocking claims regarding drug trafficking linked to Pakistani cricket teams during their visits to India. In an interview, he specifically mentioned former cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, alleging their involvement in drug-related activities while touring India.
Mani further suggested that the death of former Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was connected to his opposition to purported drug trafficking. He referenced a 2006 estimate from the Defence Intelligence Agency, which indicated that a considerable amount of terror financing was derived from the narcotics trade.
